05 · FAQ

FAQ

Should the event carbon footprint and ISO 20121 be done together?

Not necessarily. For a first event, start with the carbon footprint to understand your emissions profile. If you plan to hold the event long term or have brand needs, upgrade to an ISO 20121 management system.

Should participant travel emissions be included?

It usually makes up a large share of event emissions, so we recommend including it. We design a simple registration questionnaire or sample survey to get the data.

Is there a new version of ISO 20121?

Yes. A new version was published in 2024, with stronger requirements on identifying sustainability issues and on social aspects. For new events we recommend planning directly to the 2024 version.
