Product Carbon Footprint
Calculate product life cycle carbon footprints under ISO 14067 to meet supply chain and carbon label needs.
Book a free consultation→Calculate a product's emissions from raw materials to disposal. It answers supply chain requirements and is the basis for carbon labels and carbon neutrality.
Who it is for
- Suppliers whose brand customers or retailers require product carbon footprints
- Companies applying for a carbon label or disclosing footprints on packaging or catalogs
- Products headed for a carbon neutrality claim that must first quantify emissions
- R&D and procurement teams comparing the emissions of different materials, processes or packaging options
What we do
System boundary
Choose cradle-to-gate or cradle-to-grave, and define the functional or declared unit.
Product category rules
Find and apply the relevant product category rules (PCR) so results are comparable.
Life cycle inventory
Collect data on materials, energy, transport and waste to build the product's life cycle inventory.
Factor selection and calculation
Use primary data first; fill gaps with published factors and international databases.
Hotspot analysis
Find the stages and materials with the highest emissions and propose feasible ways to cut them.
Verification and label preparation
Prepare third-party verification documents and lead into a carbon label or carbon neutrality claim.
How it works
Scoping
Confirm the product, functional unit and system boundary.
Data collection
Collect life cycle data from the plant and suppliers.
Calculation and analysis
Calculate emissions by stage, with sensitivity and hotspot analysis.
Report writing
Write the carbon footprint report under ISO 14067.
Verification and next steps
Accompany you through verification and plan the next step toward reduction or carbon neutrality.
What you get
Product carbon footprint report
Follows the ISO 14067 structure and explains methods, data and results.
Life cycle inventory table
Traceable activity data and factors for each stage.
Reduction hotspot recommendations
Improvement directions for materials, processes and logistics based on the results.
FAQ
Do we need an organizational inventory first?
Not necessarily, but the data overlaps heavily. If you have already done one, the product footprint can reuse the energy and waste data and save considerable time.
What if suppliers will not provide data?
Fill the gaps with secondary data from published factors or international databases and note this in the report. Then gradually replace key materials with primary data to improve accuracy.
How often should the footprint be updated?
Update it when the product formula, process or supply chain changes significantly. Carbon labels usually have a validity period, so recalculate and re-verify before it expires.
